In case it is relevant, there are no files in the Top-level "D:\ClipArt" folder, they are all in sub folders and are almost all. I read the manual chapter 8 and that talks about "My Theme", which does not exist in my list of themes. All the original files were still present, even though their path is no longer in the "Paths > Gallery" section. I then closed the gallery view, closed Open Office, reopened Open Office and reopened the gallery. Finally, I deleted the original path, so both the Graphics and Gallery paths are simply D:\ClipArt. I then tried changing the "Graphics" path but that had no effect. Going back to the Paths option, I checked that my path had been appended to the standard path, and it had. I then closed and reopened the gallery with no change. The files in my ClipArt folder were not visible (neither were the folder names). I shut down Open Office and opened it again, but the list of files in the gallery had not changed. I then set that as the default, clicked OK and exited. I edited that and added "D:\ClipArt" via the requester which popped up. I went to Tools > Options > OpenOffice > Paths as you suggested and found the gallery path. Unfortunately I seem to be doing something wrong. Thank you for your prompt and very informative reply.
